Welcome to African News Rehearsal
At African News Rehearsal, we believe that understanding Africa begins with listening — truly listening — to the stories that shape the continent. Whether you're a local resident, a diaspora member, or someone simply curious about Africa’s dynamic present, this is the place where news comes alive with context, courage, and clarity.
What We Do / Our Mission
Our mission is simple: to deliver accurate, timely, and deeply human reporting on the events that matter most across Africa. We don’t just report the headlines — we explore the why behind them. From the corridors of power in Pretoria to the grassroots movements in Lagos, we bring you stories that inform, challenge, and inspire.
Topics We Cover
We cover a wide spectrum of issues that define contemporary Africa:
- Politics and governance
- Economic trends and innovation
- Social justice and human rights
- Culture, arts, and heritage
- Sports and youth movements
- Healthcare access and public health
Every story is chosen not just for its newsworthiness, but for its impact on everyday lives.
About the Creator/Team
African News Rehearsal was founded by Caleb Whitmore, a Cape Town-based journalist and storyteller with over a decade of experience covering African affairs. Born and raised in South Africa, Caleb has reported from over 15 African countries, working with local bureaus, independent media, and international outlets. He started this platform out of a frustration with superficial coverage — a desire to create a space where depth matters more than speed, and where African voices lead the narrative.
Why This Website Exists
Too often, Africa is portrayed through a single lens — crisis, poverty, or conflict. But Africa is so much more. It’s innovation in Nairobi’s tech hubs, resilience in rural clinics, creativity in Johannesburg’s galleries, and leadership in Dakar’s parliaments. African News Rehearsal exists to reflect that complexity. We’re here because the continent deserves more than headlines. It deserves understanding.
Our Values/Approach
We are committed to:
- Accuracy — Every fact is verified, every source credited
- Independence — We answer to our readers, not advertisers or political agendas
- Context — We don’t just tell you what happened — we explain why it matters
- Representation — We prioritize African journalists, perspectives, and voices
Our writing is clear, our tone is respectful, and our commitment is unwavering.
